Tim Vandeveer

Tim Vandeveer’s interests center around social justice and public interest law. He is a founding member and board chair emeritus of the Defend O‘ahu Coalition, former shop steward for Unite HERE! (Local 5), and community organizer with the AiKea Movement.  Tim brings over 25 years of non-profit volunteer fundraising experience in local community and statewide enterprises.

Tim served as Chair of the Democratic Party of Hawai‘i (DPH) from 2016-2018. As leader of the DPH, he increased grassroots fundraising over 200%, expanded member engagement and neighbor island accessibility, and divested the DPH from First Hawaiian Bank due to their support for the Dakota Access Pipeline.

As member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Western Vice-President of the Association of State Democratic Chairs (ASDC), he drafted the first national resolution calling for the establishment of a Climate Conservation Corps (adopted in 2018), a resolution which later became part of the blueprint for the Green New Deal and Section 215 of President Biden’s Executive Order 14008.

Vandeveer holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and is a 2017 graduate of the University of Hawai‘i William S. Richardson School of Law, receiving a certificate in Environmental Law.  At Richardson, he was a founding member of the Energy Justice Working Group (EJWG) and served on the Motions Drafting Team at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress in Honolulu.

Tim is the owner of Storybout LLC (a B-Corp applicant), and currently serves as Associate Attorney at Margaret Wille & Associates LLLC.
